To Make / Rustic Italian Pizza Dough

Good morning! If there's one classic Italian food that's universally loved, it has to be pizza. I've never met a person who at least doesn't love the concept of pizza (though have met people who don't like cheese on pizza, or sometimes sauce - I definitely understand the latter, but not the former LOL). That being said, one of my summer goals is to perfect my homemade pizza crust! I think I've gotten it pretty close to my favorite kind of rustic pizza crust, and that means it's time to share!

This dough is low prep, has a personalized rising time, and is just bread-y enough. Get the full recipe below!

- 5 cups of flour

- 1 + 1/4 cups of cold water

- 1 + 1/2 tsp. of yeast

- 1 + 1/2 tsp. of sea salt

- 2 tbs. of olive oil

1. Combine dry ingredients in a stand mixer. Pour in water and stir until dough is just coming together, then switch to your bread hook attachment. Beat dough in mixer for 8 minutes.

2. Flip dough out onto a floured surface, and seperate into 5-6 dough balls. Brush with olive oil and cover. Let rise at room temperature for 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how chewy you want the dough to be (the longer you let it rise, the less chewy it will be).

3. Either store in the fridge/freezer or bake immediately. To bake, preheat oven to 450 and form your crust by smoothing a dough ball out with the palms of your hands (not your finger tips!) into a circle. Prebake your crust for 5 minutes before adding toppings, then bake for another 5. Enjoy!

Thanks for reading, and have a fun Wednesday!

To Make Avocado Toast Pizzas

Hi guys! Since avocado toast has been such a big "thing" in the food world lately, I wanted to find different ways to try it, just to make it more exciting! I settled on turning it into a pizza somehow. It's a slightly more elevated way to consume the food trend. It requires a little more elbow grease than just spreading avocado on toast, but it's a great option if you are hosting a brunch, or want to make your breakfast more special! Get the recipe below!

For the Whole Wheat crust:

- 2 cups of whole wheat flour

- 1/4 cup of olive oil

- 2 eggs

- 1/2 tsp of salt

For the toppings:

- 1 avocado, mashed

- 2 eggs

Step one - Preheat oven to 350, and mix together crust ingredients until it forms a dough.

Step two - Roll dough into two balls and roll flat on top of parchment paper.

Step three - Using a small bowl and butter knife, cut out dough into two circular "pizza" shapes.

Step four - Bake in oven for 10 minutes.

Step five - Fry your eggs, and smooth avocado on top of pizza crusts. Top with fried eggs. Bailey and I each had our own and they were delicious. Enjoy!

To Make A BBQ Flatbread

Hi guys! Today, we have an easy veggie BBQ Flatbread! I love making this pizza when I don't feel like cooking anything and we had pizza the night before. I hate repeating meals. With the BBQ sauce, it feels like a completely different dish. The BBQ sauce I use is sugar free and spicy! I love sweet and spicy sauces, and the pineapple-habanero combo does the trick. Using only veggies and Parmesan as toppings makes this pizza feel very fresh. I also love using Naan flatbreads because they taste delicious and get very crispy.  Most of the time I would add chicken to top it off, but I really didn't want to do anything other than chopping and baking. Feel free to add whatever toppings you like! Just, please, give the BBQ sauce a chance. You won't regret it! Recipe below:

- 1 Flatbread

- 1 cup of your choice of BBQ sauce

- half an onion, diced or sliced

- half a red pepper, sliced

- 1 cup of Parmesan cheese

Step one - Preheat oven to 375. Spread sauce to edges of your flatbread. Top with veggies and cheese.

Step two - Place flatbread on middle rack and let cook for 11 minutes. Once cheese has melted, let the pizza cool for a minute or so. Then cut into slices and enjoy!
