To Do a Taste Test!

Happy Friday, guys! Today, I have a special treat! My best friend, Cat, and I did a taste test last weekend, testing out her new mini Moon Dust collection that I gifted her for her birthday. It was a blast, and was also the perfect excuse for a girls day. Before we get to the individual "dusts", I'll fill you in on these little vitamin powders. Moon Dusts by Moon Juice are medical-grade, all organic powders that you add to any hot or cold drink. Each dust is different and are made to target different parts of your body. To quote the company's own description, "Moon Dusts work synergistically at the deepest levels to heal and enhance your beauty, brain, body, sleep, and spirit. These transformative blends are alchemized with the most potent, organic, and wild-crafted herbs, adaptogenic plants, and bioactive materials available." Just for a disclaimer, these powders are not in any way to be feared. They don't make you jittery and aren't workout enhancement powders either. They are just extra nutrients, much like a vitamin you would take daily. See how we tested them below!

Action Dust: "This power potion contains an impressive portfolio of bioactive minerals with high concentrations of calcium and phosphorus and are key elements for tissue, muscle, bone construction, and maintenance." Ingredients: Astragalus, Ginseng, Schisandra, Eleuthero, Rhodiola, Stevia

Our takeaway from that description, was basically that this particular dust would be perfect to start the day with. We added it to some black coffee, and the taste was pretty great! All of the dusts are slightly sweet, due to the Stevia, so it went pretty well with coffee.

Spirit Dust: "These elements help to sustain the physical body, uniting the mind and spirit to enhance and overall sense of confidence, awareness, and appreciation." Ingredients: Goji, Reishi, Astragalus, Longan, Salvia, Stevia

I really loved the whole idea of this dust. It sounds ideal for my pre-yoga coffee every morning! Who doesn't want an "overall sense of confidence, awareness, and appreciation" before they leave the house for the day. Much like the Action Dust, this one worked excellent with the coffee.

Heart Dust: "Will open the heart, literally, and metaphysically, dilating capillaries, promoting the heart's permeability. Strengthens the heart's ability to accept and release." Ingredients: Longan, Salvia, Ligusticum, Reishi, Stevia

The two that were related to the actual body, Heart and Brain Dust, we decided to pair with smoothies. They felt even more nutritious that way. This smoothie was basically a dessert, and you couldn't even tell a difference with the dust included, it blended right in! Smoothie recipe below!

PB/Chocolate/Banana Smoothie: Yields 1

- 2 TBS of Peanut Butter

- 2 TBS of cocoa powder

- 1 chopped banana

- almond milk

- 1 TSP of Heart Dust

Directions: Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.

Brain Dust: "This adaptogenic potion lights up your brain and increases mental flow by feeding neurotransmitters and brain tissue." Ingredients: Astragalus, Lion's Mane, Shilajit, Maca, Rhodiola, Gingko, Stevia

This dust was probably our favorite, just because at this point in our lives, still being pretty young, it feels important to try and strengthen our brains as much as possible. It's really the only one we thought we actually needed. It sounds the most beneficial. We paired it with my go-to Green Goddess Smoothie, and I did notice a slight sweetness, which is never a bad thing in my book. Recipe below!

Green Goddess Smoothie: Yields 1

- 1 cup of spinach

- 1 chopped banana

- 1/2 cup of frozen mango

- chia seeds, as much as you want

- 1 TSP of Brain Dust

- almond milk

Directions: Blend together until smooth.

Beauty Dust: "Expands beauty through calming the nerves, increasing collagen production, toning and firming tissue, fortifying skin, hair, nails, and cell membranes from the inside out." Ingredients: Goji, Cinnamon, Reishi, Pearl, Stevia

This was my second favorite, and second highest on the necessary list. It sounds like it does everything a normal beauty enhancing vitamin does. It's pretty ideal for not just being healthy, but also looking it. Also, I love that it has pearl in it. We went ahead and paired this dust and the last dust with tea, since their descriptions sounded most appropriate for it. This tea was a Dandelion tea, and since it usually doesn't have much flavor anyways, the dust sweetened it up a bit.

Goodnight Dust: "This nightcap tranquilizes blood flow, promotes natural melatonin release and stabilizes REM" Ingredients: Chamomile, Zizyphus, Polygala, Schizandra, Stevia

This dust is probably a pretty big seller. We tried it out during the day, for the sake of our taste test, and had already had two cups of coffee and two smoothies, so I'm not shocked that I didn't feel sleepy after. I did feel pretty relaxed, but that could have been from any of the dusts. I'd love to actually try this out at night and see if it effects my sleep, but I'm not a bad sleeper anyways, so it's unnecessary. I'll be sure to report back on what Cat says though! We tried this dust with a chamomile tea, for obvious reasons, and I didn't notice much of a taste difference, which is probably a good thing. Hope you enjoyed our taste test!
